Singer, composer, performer, intuitionist, lives in Lisbon, Portugal Anabela’s professional life as an artist is difficult to categorize because it involves a multiple range of musical and artistic talents. She started singing and playing sinths, samplers, percussion in pop-rock music, but then she moved to fado and begun to mix it with electronic gear. Some kind of an electric-fado was going on. Later on the singer felt strongly motivated to expand her vocal capacities and she took singing lessons with classic and experimental renowned singers. Anabela believes that an artist is like a demiurge, such as that one in the grand opera of Dali, Être Dieu, so she tries not to restrain herself as a creative being to any specific market situation which would destroy the real pursuit of meaning and musical creation. Deeply believing that creativity is something opened up to all influences and skills, the singer aims to specialize in everything, musically speaking, so that she may remain open to the world and to her singing/musical abilities. Thence the artist is not following any creative trends, be it classical or experimental or whatever, in fact she says: “I’m inventing my own trend. So much for the new, in that sense, I’m on my way”. Currently the singer is engaged in classical and in contemporary music as a singer and performer. An avant-classical singer? You name it. |
